Il podcast il restauro architettonico ha raggiunto le 1000 riproduzioni su tutte le piattaforme supportate. Grazie per questo grande risultato: 1000 riproduzioni per me sono un traguardo importante. Ho iniziato questo percorso a luglio, non avendo alcuna pretesa se non quella di divulgare la mia passione per il restauro architettonico. Si tratta di una materia quasi sconosciuta, ma che racchiude uno dei valori più importanti della vita: la trasmissione alle future generazioni.

I started this journey in July, having no pretensions except to spread my passion for architectural restoration. It is an almost unknown subject, but one that holds one of the most important values in life: transmission to future generations.

E cosa c’è di meglio da tramandare se non le opere architettoniche e pittoriche che sono giunte fino a noi, riflettendo la nostra capacità di trasmettere? Infatti, l’essere umano biologicamente nasce per trasmettere i suoi geni e far continuare a vivere la nostra specie. Nella storia dell’umanità, abbiamo inventato, sognato e realizzato qualsiasi cosa, addirittura siamo arrivati nello spazio. Tuttavia, ci sono alcune cose che non possiamo controllare, come la morte, ma possiamo sconfiggerla tramite l’arte. Infatti, l’arte ci rende immortali, come dimostra il caso di Leonardo da Vinci: la sua vita terrena si è conclusa 504 anni fa, ma le sue opere sono ancora qui con noi, e in esse c’è una parte di lui che vive ancora.

And what better to pass on than the architectural and pictorial works that have come down to us, reflecting our ability to pass on? Indeed, human beings biologically are born to pass on their genes and keep our species alive. In the history of mankind, we have invented, dreamed and achieved everything, even made it to space. However, there are some things we cannot control, such as death, but we can defeat it through art. In fact, art makes us immortal, as the case of Leonardo da Vinci shows: his earthly life ended 504 years ago, but his works are still here with us, and in them there is a part of him that still lives on.

Sta a noi conservare queste opere affinché siano eterni. L’unico modo per ingannare la morte è tramite l’arte in tutte le sue forme, incluso il restauro, che ci consente di conservare queste opere affinché durino per sempre. Pertanto, il restauro architettonico svolge un ruolo importante e cruciale per lo sviluppo della nostra attuale e futura società. Credo che il modo migliore per tramandare alle future generazioni i nostri monumenti, le nostre opere d’arte e qualsiasi altro manufatto storico con un senso culturale sia quello di conoscerlo. Iniziando già dal territorio in cui viviamo, conoscendo i monumenti, è il modo migliore per conservare ciò che è arrivato a noi: dobbiamo conoscerlo, rispettarlo e tramandarlo.

It is up to us to preserve these works so that they are eternal. The only way to cheat death is through art in all its forms, including restoration, which enables us to preserve these works so that they will last forever. Therefore, architectural restoration plays an important and crucial role in the development of our current and future society. I believe that the best way to pass on our monuments, works of art and any other historical artifacts with cultural meaning to future generations is to know them. Starting as early as the area in which we live, knowing the monuments is the best way to preserve what has come down to us: we must know, respect and pass it on.

Il restauro architettonico si prefigge questo obiettivo: conservare la storia. Ci sono stati tanti uomini e donne che hanno contribuito alla trasmissione di questa materia con scritti, libri e teorie, ma sono convinto che il modo migliore per trasmettere alle future generazioni ciò che è arrivato fino a noi sia quello di conoscerlo a fondo e rispettarlo.

This is what architectural restoration is all about: preserving history. There have been many men and women who have contributed to the transmission of this subject with writings, books and theories, but I am convinced that the best way to pass on to future generations what has come down to us is to know it thoroughly and respect it.
